Nearly a week after an Amber Alert was issued for a 6-year-old Wisconsin girl, her mother was arrested and charged.
Chelsie Lehmann has been officially charged with aiding/harboring a felon by the Portage County District Attorney’s Office. Lehmann is reportedly the mother of Ruby Lehmann, a 6-year-old for whom an Amber Alert has previously been issued.
Ruby was found safe on September 13th.
Officials say Chelsie and her children recently moved into a home owned and occupied by Jordan Coyle. According to the release, Coyle has previously been convicted of a felony child sex offense and is a registered sex offender.
Coyle has conditions that prevent him from living with children. When the Department of Corrections discovered that children were living in the house, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On September 9, Coyle allegedly fled when police arrived at his home. This is when Chelsie is accused of helping Coyle.
According to the release, Chelsie encouraged/permitted Coyle to violate the terms of his supervision by contacting Ruby.
According to the investigation, Ruby had a close relationship with Coyle and left her home to look for him. It was stated that there is no evidence that Ruby was forcefully taken by Coyle.
Ruby was found unharmed.
Chelsie is in custody and pending her initial court appearance. No additional information was provided.
