A Texas woman stabbed two other women in her apartment complex, according to reports.
Emily LaVelle, 29, was released on bail after being arrested following an incident at the Tennyson Arms apartments in Waco, Texas.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, LaVelle, a resident of the complex, was previously involved in an altercation with a female neighbor.
According to the police affidavit, when asked what she was thinking when she allegedly confronted the neighbor again, LaVelle replied, “Do or die.”
According to the affidavit, police responded to the apartment complex on the evening of June 7 after receiving reports of a woman carrying a knife who had “just stabbed someone.” The woman then “barricaded” herself in her apartment on the property.
When police arrived, they spoke with two women who claimed LaVelle stabbed them. One woman had a stab wound on her collarbone, “near her throat.” The injured woman told police that LaVelle approached the group she was with, wielding a knife.
According to the alleged victim, LaVelle stabbed another woman in the group, after which a member of the group attempted to restrain her.
According to the affidavit, witnesses stated that they were able to restrain LaVelle until police arrived, at which point she fled back to her apartment.
After witnesses and the two alleged victims identified LaVelle, police apprehended and arrested her.
She was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation by police, where she claimed to have been in a “mutual combat physical altercation” with the first woman she allegedly stabbed earlier that day. That incident reportedly occurred approximately an hour before the alleged stabbing.
LaVelle allegedly told police that after the initial altercation, “she put a knife in her pocket.” After being informed of her rights, she continued to speak with police.
According to the affidavit, she told police that after the first altercation, she went outside to her car and noticed the other woman, who was on her phone and “possibly calling the police.”
LaVelle then returned to her apartment and told police that she did not have a knife, “directly contradicting her earlier statement.”
According to the affidavit, one of the officers asked LaVelle how she felt when she saw the alleged victim. LaVelle replied, “[D]o or die.”
When asked to elaborate on her plans, LaVelle allegedly stated that she intended to defend herself. The officer then asked LaVelle what she would do to defend herself, to which she replied, “she would do anything.”
She added that if she had a knife with her, she would have “killed that b—.”
No reason was given for any of the altercations between LaVelle and her alleged victims.
LaVelle was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and taken to the McLennan County Jail. She posted bond on June 8. Her next court date wasn’t available.
