Father of Missing California Baby Arrested After Wife's 'Kidnapping' Story Fell Apart, Seen Guiding Search For Child's Body

On Sunday, the father of a missing 7-month-old was seen assisting authorities in their search for the child’s body in a rural area of San Bernardino County, California.

Jake Haro and his wife, Rebecca Haro, were arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday, just over a week after reporting their child missing.

Rebecca Haro initially told police that she was in a parking lot loading her car when she was attacked on August 14 and her baby, Emmanuel Haro, was taken.

However, last week, the police issued a statement casting doubt on Rebecca’s story. “Rebecca was confronted with inconsistencies in her initial statement and declined to continue the interview.

At this point in the investigation, investigators are unable to rule out foul play in Emmanuel’s disappearance, police stated last week.

Jake Haro also pleaded guilty to willful cruelty to a child in 2018 and served a six-month sentence.

According to the newspaper, Haro faced two new charges last June for owning or possessing a firearm and ammunition while a convicted felon.

A KABC video released just days after the couple’s arrest on Friday showed Jake Haro with police in a rural area while wearing an orange jumpsuit.

The station reported that police brought cadaver dogs to the scene to aid in the apparent search for Emmanuel Haro’s body.

“The search has concluded, and Emmanuel was not located,” the sheriff’s department told KABC. “The investigation to find Emmanuel continues.”
