Finalized Qualifiers As Timed Event Participants Proceed to Cheyenne Performances

Cheyenne Frontier Days is back and better than before. The timed event athletes compete well before the performances begin in order to secure their spot in the rodeo. The top 72 athletes move on.

Everyone competes in the first round, and the top 60 advance. The rest will run another, and the top 12 will have the opportunity to run another in the performances.

Riley Pruitt has been on a heater to say the least. He is coming off of a win at the NFR Open and also made it to the final day at the Calgary Stampede. He took the round win posting the only sub-10 second run in either the first round or the wild card.

It should come as no surprise that Hailey Kinsel won the barrel race. Her and the stunning palomino Sister edged out Anita Ellis (who had just won the Calgary Stampede) by.08 for a nearly $8,000 payday. Ellis added $6.715 to her previous week’s earnings of nearly $80,000.

The steer wrestling is always a little terrifying to watch because the guys are crawling off the side of their horse at a faster pace than usual given the size of the arena.

Only six men posted runs faster than seven seconds. Joe Nelson led the round as he seeks his first NFR qualification.

Cheyenne has featured breakaway roping since 2021, and it has quickly become a fan favorite. Haiden Thompson has been a rookie on fire lately, including splitting a round win with Katie Jolly.

Bubba Buckaloo and Joseph Harrison won their set by.7, making it the only team event. They took home nearly $5,000 in their quest to become CFD champions.

The Frontier Days featured 12 contestants in each performance, with the top four moving on to the semi-finals. The top six finishers from each semi-final advance to the finals, which take place on.
