Following an I-80 pursuit, Wyoming State Police apprehend a murder suspect

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A police chase on Interstate 80 in Wyoming resulted in the safe arrest of a murder suspect from Colorado.

According to a press release issued earlier this week, the arrest occurred in Laramie County, Wyoming, and resulted in minor injuries for the state trooper.

According to the release, at around 5:25 a.m. on Friday, Wyoming State Troopers received an alert about a homicide suspect traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 from Colorado. Troopers and Laramie County Deputies moved quickly to intercept the vehicle.

A specialized Wyoming Highway Patrol unit was dispatched, equipped with a Grappler police pursuit system, which uses netting to safely stop fleeing vehicles. Near mile marker 367, a Trooper apprehended the suspect’s vehicle and deployed the Grappler.

Both vehicles then entered the median, with the patrol vehicle rolling during the maneuver. The Trooper sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment before being released. Deputies with the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office arrested the suspect.

“This incident is a powerful example of the strong partnerships among Wyoming’s law enforcement agencies,” said WHP Colonel Tim Cameron. “Our Troopers played a supportive role with precision and courage. I’m proud of their actions and relieved there were no serious injuries.
