According to reports, a man in Las Vegas who was “having a bad day” and “couldn’t control his damn temper” shot and killed a neighbor on Tuesday for using his car to block off a portion of the neighbor’s driveway. He was sentenced to 21 years to life in prison.
According to Clark County court records, Robert Salone, 43, pled Alford to charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder earlier this year and was found guilty of killing Christopher “Dice” Allen, 33, in October 2022. An Alford plea is a recognition that the prosecution has sufficient evidence to convict at trial, not an admission of guilt.
Salone was sentenced to at least 20 years in prison Tuesday for killing his neighbor and for another shooting incident involving a parking lot the previous year, which resulted in charges of attempted murder. His victim’s mother joined prosecutors in calling him out.
Speaking to the court, Allen’s mother, Kathryn Carter, criticized Allen, saying, “He had no right because he was having a bad day and couldn’t control his damn temper to decide, ‘Today, I’ve had enough,'” according to local CBS affiliate KLAS. “I can’t talk about justice because, to me, it would mean regaining my son. And that isn’t feasible anymore.”
Salone insisted that “it wasn’t planned,” telling the court that he was “remorseful” and sorry for the shooting attack (KLAS).

Earlier this year, Salone was convicted of attempted murder in addition to murder in relation to a shooting in 2021 in which he targeted a person for occupying two parking spots with their vehicle.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Christopher Hamner said, “I’ve never heard of someone who got so mad about a person, let alone two people, double parking, that he would resort to gun violence.”
Friends and family characterized Allen as “the life of the party” and someone who likes to make people laugh after his murder.
“[Allen] was very, very goofy,” Stacie Owens, his girlfriend, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. It’s been traumatic, to be honest. the entire circumstance.”
