Honoring a Hero: Wyoming Community Reflects at Spc. William ‘Billy’ Evans Memorial Park in Pennsylvania

SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY, Pa. — While Memorial Day weekend often marks the start of summer fun, it’s also a time to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday — honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Jon Meyer recently traveled along the Pennsylvania Road to Susquehanna County to share the powerful story of a father’s tribute to his fallen son, Specialist William “Billy” Evans.

Nestled in the quiet beauty of the region — not far from the Wyoming state border where families share similar stories of service and sacrifice — the Spc. William “Billy” Evans Memorial Park stands as a place of remembrance, reflection, and community support.

Created in Billy’s honor, the park serves as a living tribute to his memory and military service. It’s a space for locals and visitors alike to walk, gather, and remember those who gave everything for their country.

To help maintain the park, donations are welcomed and can be made to:

The park is a meaningful reminder not only to Pennsylvania families but also to communities across neighboring states like Wyoming that every name etched in stone represents a life, a family, and a story worth remembering.
