Hundreds attend the "No Kings" rally in Cheyenne

Cheyenne, Wyo. – Across the country, millions of Americans took to the streets over the weekend to protest the Trump administration’s actions, prompted in part by heavy-handed ice raids in major cities.

The protests occurred at the same time that the president held a military parade through the streets of Washington, DC.

On Saturday, hundreds of Wyoming residents gathered at the state capitol for Cheyenne’s rally.

The peaceful demonstrations were billed as a nationwide day of defiance in response to the Trump administration and serve as a means of protesting the president and his policies.

Rebeka Dvorak, a Cheyenne resident, says, “Our rights are being taken away.” I’m a naturalized citizen from Germany; that’s my first language, and I was always proud to become a citizen, so I’m very concerned about what’s going on.”

On the other hand, David Scott tells Wyoming News Now that “it’s unfortunate that we as veterans are the minority here.”

We served so that people could have a choice, but whenever you refer to our president as a tyrant and “no kings,” he has never asked to be king. I believe they are misrepresenting and misidentifying what has been going on.

The Cheyenne rally was one of over a dozen held throughout the state, including Casper, Laramie, and Sheridan.

Saturday’s gathering was the latest in a series of protests against the current administration held at our state capitol in recent months.
