Wyoming Game and Fish is informing large game hunters in the Sheridan Region that there will be significant changes to the 2025 season.
Mule deer antler point limitations apply in a number of hunting locations. For general licenses in Deer Hunt Areas 19, 25, 29, and 31, antlered mule deer must have three or more points on either antler, but hunters may take any white-tailed deer. A point must be at least an inch long.
The boundaries of Raven Creek’s Elk Hunt Areas 123 and 126 have altered. Hunters should read the written description of the new boundaries in the 2025 regulations book.
Elk Hunt Area 113 is offering its first Type 8 elk license. It is valid for a cow or calf on private property.
The general season for antlered mule deer in Deer Hunt Area 32 has been reduced compared to 2024.
Campbell County #9, a new walk-in hunting area, is open to deer, elk, antelope, turkeys, and rabbits.
Johnson Walk-in Area #7 has shortened access dates this year and will close on October 31. Licenses for Antelope Hunt Area 23, Types 2 and 7, are not valid on this site.
Game and Fish recommends that hunters examine the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Public Access page before visiting any walk-in or hunter management area, as each property has its own set of laws.
Game and Fish is advising upland bird hunters that the sage grouse season in eastern Wyoming (Hunt Areas 2 and 4) remains closed. Other portions of the state require a free annual sage grouse hunting permit. The permit allows wildlife managers to collect timely statistics on hunting effort, harvest, and success.
All licensed sage grouse hunters must carry both the free permit and their game bird license. Permits are good for one calendar year and can be obtained online or at Game and Fish regional offices, but not from license-selling agents.
