I just killed someone and went away': Man fatally stabbed woman and her friend in a parking garage after detaining her in a car, according to authorities

A Florida man has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly fatally stabbing a popular stylist in a parking garage while she was waiting for a friend.

According to an arrest report reviewed by Law&Crime, police responded to a 911 call on May 28 from a man reporting that he had been stabbed in the neck by another man at an apartment complex in Sunrise.

When police arrived, they discovered both the caller and the unresponsive body of his friend, 27-year-old Hailey Hosford. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

After reviewing surveillance video and speaking with witnesses, police arrested Jackson Sagesse, 21, at his mother’s home.

According to the arrest report, after being read his rights, he told police, “I just killed someone and walked away.”

The arrest report detailed a haunting sequence of events, beginning with the black sedan that drove Hosford and an unnamed male friend into the Retreat apartment building’s parking garage.

Sagesse was seen entering the frame and approaching the car about a minute after the male friend had left.

Police reported seeing Sagesse with a metallic object in his right hand that reflected light. He reportedly walked along the car’s passenger side before exiting the frame.

One minute later, Hosford was seen opening the back seat door on the passenger side before spotting Sagesse, who returned to the car from the driver’s side.

Police said she “quickly re-enter[ed] the vehicle in an apparent attempt to hide.”

Sagesse then allegedly forced the door back open and assaulted Hosford. Police reported that a “stabbing motion [was] visible on video.”

According to the arrest report, the friend returned, resulting in a physical altercation between him and Sagesse. Sagesse allegedly stabbed the friend, who managed to flee and call for help.

Sagesse then went to the driver’s side of the car, sat in the seat, started the engine, but was unable to move it. He got out of the car and “appear[ed] to search the ground for potential evidence.”

An employee at the Retreat who provided the video to police recognized Sagesse and identified him to police, giving them his home address a few doors away.

Police went to Sagesse’s home, where he was allegedly dressed in the same clothes as seen on surveillance video. A knife found in his pocket appeared to be from the same kitchen knife set as the one discovered at the scene.

Investigators allegedly discovered that Sagesse’s kitchen knife block was missing two steak knives.

Sagesse was taken into custody without incident. After being read his Miranda rights, he allegedly told officers, “I just killed someone and walked away.” He reportedly tried to claim self-defense, but police said he never explained what made him feel threatened.

The male victim was hospitalized due to his injuries, but his current condition is unknown.

Hosford was a popular hair stylist in the area. Hosford’s stepfather told local NBC affiliate WTVJ, “Our family is destroyed.” This is beyond horrific. We wish no family had to go through this.”

Sagesse was arrested for premeditated and attempted murder. He is being held in the Broward County Jail without bond.
