The Enhanced Money Match program aims to make life easier for citizens. The system uses advanced technology to cross-reference existing data and identify people who are owed money for unclaimed property. When a match is confirmed, a check is mailed directly to the individual’s home.
In a public statement, State Treasurer Michael Frerichs made it clear that the money belongs to you, the check is genuine, and this is not a scam. The second thing we tell them is, “Cash the check!” “Who couldn’t use some extra money this summer?”
The authorities’ goal is for people to believe that this payment is legitimate and that they can use it for whatever they want. Since the Enhanced Money Match program began in 2018, Illinois has returned more than $130 million to over 870,000 individuals.

Thanks to this new program, nearly 600,000 Illinois residents will receive $45 million in cash via mail. The majority of checks in this round of the Enhanced Money Match program are for $50 or less, though some people with multiple claims may receive more.
