The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating how a crop duster in eastern Wyoming was fatally shot.

Kevin Hefley, 52, was identified Thursday as the man killed Tuesday afternoon in rural Laramie County, west of Pine Bluffs.

Hefley owned and operated Airtime Aerial LLC from the Pine Bluffs Airport.

According to a Sheriff’s Office report issued on Thursday, Hefley was pronounced dead at the scene, and no further information will be released at this time.

“This is an active, ongoing investigation,” the department states.

Deputies responded to a call in the 1200 block of County Road 157 around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A suspect has been identified, but it is unclear who has been arrested or charged.

“The shooter has been found. “There is no ongoing risk to the public,” the LCSO states. “Our deepest condolences go out to Kevin’s family and friends in this difficult time.”
