Kansas City, Missouri – Missouri will experience dangerous heat and humidity until Sunday, with heat index values exceeding 100°F across much of the state.
Drivers, outdoor workers, and anyone without air conditioning are advised to exercise caution as conditions remain stifling, particularly south of Highway 36.
According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, heat indexes in Butler, Sedalia, and Moberly could reach 105°F by Sunday evening.
Kansas City may experience temperatures ranging from 100 to 104°F, while northern cities such as St. Joseph and Maryville will also face oppressive conditions.
Meteorologists said the heat could last into Monday, depending on cloud cover, before cooler and less humid air arrives in midweek.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms may form Saturday afternoon in central and southern Missouri, with another round possible Sunday. Any rainfall would provide temporary relief, but not on a large scale.
During peak afternoon hours, the agency advises residents to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and keep an eye on their neighbors and pets.
Rain showers may increase on Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures dropping by midweek. Heat advisories are in effect until Sunday evening, with further updates possible.
