LOTRA News | Oct. 20, 2023

It’s time to rejoin the LOTRA indoor arena with your annual membership. Good news— We have kept the membership prices the same as the past few years. The new membership takes effect on Nov. 1. A membership form is posted on the LOTRA.org website and our Facebook page.

Brenda Walker will be putting on the LOTRA Jackpot Series again with barrels, goat tying/goat tail tying, breakaway roping, open events, men’s breakaway (won more than $5k in any roping event), youth events ages 9-14, peewee events 8 and under. Enter at 9 am, exhibitions 10-11:30, run at 12:00. Open fees $40, Men’s Breakaway $50, Youth fees $30, Peewee fees $20. Nominations for season end prizes are $35/event. Prizes awarded based on points earned. Every division has the opportunity to win the saddle.
Must attend 4 of the 8 races to be eligible for prizes. Open barrels will be awarded a $3000 saddle certificate for a saddle of your choice, including shipping. Last year we gave away ove4r $11,000 in prizes!

More good news…..we are increasing the number of times the indoor arena will be groomed to a minimum of 5 times per week! This will improve our riding experience with better footing and dust control. There are many events being planned in the arena for our members this winter, including ropings, jackpot series, practices with cattle (non-roping), and more. We have contracted with Dailen Jones/D & D Livestock for the roping cattle lease for 60 head.

We have made many improvements to the barn this past year, thanks to volunteer John Gazso, who has worked on the watering system, the garage doors, security systems, grounds, cattle shelter, cattle pens, roping chute, and many more projects. We are actively working on grants to make more improvements this year.

Our next member and board meeting will be November 1, the first Wednesday of each month. Please check out our calendar of events information on our LOTRA.org website and our Facebook page. We look forward to seeing you at the LOTRA barn again.
