Nevada Weather Alert Red Flag Warning in Effect Until 8 p.m. Saturday – High Fire Risk Near I-15 in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada – Dry winds and triple-digit temperatures are significantly increasing fire risks across southern Nevada today. A Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday, with fire weather conditions expected to rapidly escalate, particularly along I-15, U.S. 93, and the desert outskirts of Clark and Lincoln counties, especially near Las Vegas.

Fire Weather Conditions

The National Weather Service in Las Vegas reports southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts reaching up to 35 mph, combined with extremely low humidity levels as low as 8%, creating ideal conditions for wildfires to spread quickly. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged, and residents are urged to take precautions such as:

Securing loose items that could become airborne.

Limiting open flames, such as campfires or grills.

Avoiding dry brush areas that could easily catch fire.

High Fire Risk Areas

Fire weather zones 461 through 466 in Nevada and zones 101–102 in northwest Arizona are at the highest risk. Saturday’s high temperature of 103°F combined with gusty winds makes conditions extremely dangerous for wildfire spread. The same dangerous conditions will continue through the weekend, with similar risks returning on Sunday and Monday.

Extended Heat and Fire Danger

There is no rain expected through midweek, and extreme heat will intensify next week, with highs reaching 109°F by Tuesday. Residents are advised to:

Stay hydrated.

Limit sun exposure.

Monitor local alerts for any updates on fire conditions.
