For millions of Social Security recipients in the United States, each monthly check represents stability and peace of mind in times when the economy is complex.
A new round of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) payments is set to begin in July 2025, with the important date of Wednesday, July 23.

What is SSDI and who qualifies for it?
Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is a federal government program that pays monthly benefits to people who are unable to work due to a medical disability.
To be eligible for government assistance, you must have worked long enough and paid into the Social Security system through your taxes. SSDI differs from SSI (Supplemental Security Income), which is determined by financial need rather than employment history.
Social Security payment schedule: how it works
The Social Security Administration (SSA) follows a set schedule for sending payments based on the beneficiary’s date of birth. In general, SSDI payments are structured and distributed as follows:
If you were born between the 1st and 10th of the month, you will receive your payment on the second Wednesday of the month.
If you were born between the 11th and 20th, you will receive the third Wednesday of the month.
If you were born between the 21st and the 31st, you will be assigned to the fourth Wednesday of the month.
Since the fourth Wednesday in July 2025 falls on the 23rd, that will be the day when payments will be sent to those born between the 21st and 31st of any month.
SSDI and July 23 payment
If you are receiving SSDI payments and were born between the 21st and 31st, then yes, you are on the list to receive payment on July 23.
If you started receiving benefits before May 1997, even if you receive SSI, your payment could arrive on July 1, regardless of your date of birth.
You can log into your mySocialSecurity account, the SSA’s official portal, to view your payment dates, deposit history and more. It’s a free and very useful tool to keep your finances in order and up to date.

What to do if I don’t receive my payment?
Check your bank account or card to make sure the money hasn’t been deposited without prior notice.
Check your account at mySocialSecurity to confirm the scheduled payment date.
Wait at least three business days. Sometimes payments can be delayed for banking or technical reasons.
Call SSA at 1-800-772-1213 (Spanish line available) if more than five business days have passed without receiving your payment.
Keep your information up to date: If your address or bank changes, notify them right away. Also, remember to activate bank notifications so you know when your deposit arrives. To avoid fraud, the SSA never calls or sends text messages requesting your Social Security number or banking information.
