The Mandan Horse and Saddle Club invites the public to attend North Dakota High School Rodeo Association competitions on Aug. 20-21. The rodeos will be held at the New Salem Saddle Club arena on the Morton County Fairgrounds. The arena in Mandan is under construction and will be ready in time for the 2023 season.

Saturday’s rodeo begins with a cattle cutting competition at 7-9 a.m. and the remainder of the rodeo running from 11 a.m. to approximately 8 p.m. Sunday’s rodeo runs from 9 a.m. until about 6 p.m.

Approximately 160 contestants from across the state will compete in events including bull riding bareback riding, breakaway roping, tie-down roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, goat tying, team roping and pole bending.

These are the 15th annual high school rodeos hosted by the Mandan Horse and Saddle Club. The rodeos mark the start of a new season for the state’s high school rodeo competitors.
