Northern Maine Weather Update Fog Advisory Tonight, Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain Expected Monday

Caribou, Maine – Drivers in Downeast and interior coastal Maine should prepare for dangerous fog late Saturday night, with storms and heavy rain set to follow by Monday that could bring flash flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, patchy showers this afternoon will clear by evening, but dense fog is expected to redevelop overnight, particularly across the interior and coastal Downeast regions. Fog may reduce visibility through early Sunday, especially before mid-morning.

Western Maine could experience a few thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon, but the main threat will arrive on Monday. Widespread showers and storms are expected, which could bring heavy rainfall and localized flooding.

The National Weather Service warns that some roads may become impassable, especially in low-lying or poorly drained areas.

High temperatures on Sunday are expected to rise into the upper 70s to low 80s across much of the state, with humidity increasing ahead of Monday’s storm system. Residents are urged to avoid flooded roads and secure any loose outdoor items.

The National Weather Service will provide additional updates as conditions evolve, and Flood Watches or Warnings may be issued before Monday’s storms.
