CSSHA News | Oct. 20, 2022

Each year CSSHA presents 2 scholarships to students at Central Wyoming College; one to an
Equine Studies student and one to a Rodeo student.  The presentation took place at the CWC Rustler
Rodeo at the Riverton Fairgrounds on Sept. 25. Congratulations to Equine Studies recipient Paige
Cramer and Rodeo student recipient Jaylea Brown. Thanks to CSSHA members Pam Rivers, Rod
Rivers, Jim McCray and Leane Linnell who presented the awards.

Annual Banquet, Meeting and Awards:

We will hold the CSSHA year-end banquet on Saturday October 22nd at the Sundowner Restaurant in Riverton, WY starting at 6 PM. Check our Facebook page for the most recent info. For fun, we are putting together a competitive bingo game with really great prizes for the winners! We will also present the CSSHA Hall of Fame, Most Improved, and Volunteer of the Year awards. For the business part of the meeting, we will have the election of officers and board members for the 2023 year, and any other annual meeting business. Reservations were due Oct. 7 for meal choices.

Vote for your 2023 Board members and Officers. The ballot for officers/board members can be
brought to the Oct. 22 Banquet or emailed to Pam Rivers by Oct. 21 to privers@wyoming.com.
Vote for the annual recognition awards. The ballot for Hall of Fame, Most Improved, and Volunteer of the Year must be returned by October 15th by email to Pam Rivers privers@wyoming.com.

CSSHA Club Fall/Winter Practices and Jackpots

Thanks to Rod and Pam Rivers who are working on the fall/winter schedule for the club’s Central
Wyoming College weekend practices and jackpots in Riverton, WY. Here are the dates for CSSHA’s CWC weekend events!


CSSHA 2022-2023 Winter Use of Central Wyoming College’s Arena
All weekends will begin with open riding at CWC from 9 AM to 10 AM

Instruction and practice will be 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturdays. Practice will begin at 10 AM on
Sundays. The Jackpot, which begins at 1 PM, is optional for participants, but what a great way to
test what you have learned. A buckle will be awarded for each month’s jackpot high score in both
youth and adult divisions. To enter the jackpot, you must attend the clinic either Saturday or Sunday or both days that weekend.


October 29 & 30 $35.00/day or $55.00 for two day
Saturday: Stockmanship 101/Reading Cattle and Practice
Sunday: Morning Practice/Afternoon Waddy Drive Jackpot $20.00
December 10 & 11 $35.00/day or $55.00 for two days
Saturday: Cutting/Herd Work Education and Practice
Sunday: Morning Practice/Afternoon Cutting Jackpot $20.00
What a great way to work off all that turkey you ate for Thanksgiving!
January 14 & 15 $35.00/day or $55.00 for two days

CSSHA/LOTRA Monthly Winter Cattle Practice in Lander, WY

CSSHA will be holding Sunday afternoon practices with cattle once a month at Lander’s LOTRA
indoor arena this winter. Take advantage of practicing with cattle and a CowTrac flag for herdwork and cow horse experience from 1:00-4:00 Sunday afternoons on the Sundays listed below. (Sorry, but no roping.) If you are a member of LOTRA and CSSHA, the practice is free. If you are not a member of the LOTRA arena, it’s only $30 per person for all afternoon! (No practice if it’s zero degrees or lower!) Annual LOTRA arena memberships are available at https://lotra.org.

Central Wyoming College Winter Ranch Horse Versatility Series, Riverton, WY

The CWC Ranch Horse Team and Equine Studies Students will be conducting a winter Ranch Horse Versatility Series! Their series will consist of four practices and shows:  November 12 & 13, December 3 & 4, January 28 & 29, and February 11 & 12. They will host practice sessions on each Saturday before the show on Sunday. Youth and adult divisions include Ranch Trail, Ranch Riding, Reining, and Working Cow Horse. Competitors can enter one class or all classes in their division and have a chance to win Ranch Horse All Around Awards. The CWC students like to give equal awards to youth and adults in an effort to help keep our community active in a lifestyle involving horses. Membership: Individual CSSHA club memberships are still only $20/year. A family membership is only $25/year. You can pay at an upcoming CSSHA event, meeting, or mail a check to CSSHA at PO Box 1981, Riverton, WY 82501.
