Two men are being held on $5,000 cash bonds after allegedly injuring another man while attempting to rob him.
According to booking sheets, police arrested Robert Jon Averett, 36, of Cheyenne, and Sasha S. Courtney, 29, of Rapid City, South Dakota, on Thursday, September 18, at East 13th Street and Crook Avenue in Cheyenne.
It is claimed that the two attempted to steal, take away, carry, lead, or drive away money or property from the victim and injured the victim in the process.
Averett and Courtney were booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and later charged with attempted robbery with bodily injury, a felony punishable by up to ten years in prison.
Initial Court Appearances
The following afternoon, Sept. 19, the two appeared before Judge Sean C. Chambers in Laramie County Circuit Court.
Bonds Set at $5,000 Cash
Chambers appointed a public defender to represent Averett and Courtney and set their bonds at $5,000 cash after hearing from the state about the men’s criminal histories.
The two are scheduled to return to court for preliminary hearings on Wednesday, October 1, at 2:15 p.m.
Remember that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
