GILLETTE, Wyo. — Gillette residents can expect widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms today and Thursday. According to the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, the western South Dakota plains will receive a half-inch to an inch of rain, while parts of northeastern Wyoming will begin to dry out tonight.
Temperatures will be cool today and Thursday, with highs in the 50s and 60s as clouds and rain continue. Warmer and drier conditions are expected this weekend, with temperatures returning to the 70s and 80s. North winds with gusts exceeding 30 mph are also expected over the next two days.
A low-pressure system will make flight conditions worse, with marginal-to-flight-instrument effects expected in western South Dakota this afternoon.
