SNAP Texas Recertification July 2025: How long do you have to renew before you lose your benefits?

Families enrolled in Texas’ Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) should be aware of their recertification process, particularly if their benefit period ends in July 2025, as this process, also known as redetermination, is critical to maintaining uninterrupted access to food assistance.

SNAP recertification begins in the first week of the month preceding the final month of benefits. That is, if your benefits expire in July, the state will send you a renewal package in early June. This will include the Texas Works Renewal Notice (H1830-R) and the Texas Benefits Renewal Form (H1010-R).

These forms can be mailed in, or you can complete the renewal online by logging into your account at YourTexasBenefits.com, where you can also see if it is time to renew. If you chose to receive electronic notifications, you will receive the notice via email rather than mail.

What is the deadline to renew SNAP Texas without losing benefits?

The renewal must be completed by the end of the expiration month. For those who will expire in July 2025, the interview must take place at least 13 days before the end of the month, allowing enough time for the case to be processed and benefits to be maintained.

What happens if you don’t complete the Texas SNAP renewal on time?

If the renewal is not completed on time, the TIERS system may cancel benefits during a Mass Update on July 5, 6, or 7, if the renewal package is not received.

However, if Form H1010-R is received during the adverse action period, an interview may be scheduled to attempt to process the renewal on time.

If any additional information is required during the process, the applicant will be given Form H1020 (Request for Information or Action).

This document gives you ten working days (plus two days for mailing) to respond. If the requested information is not submitted within this timeframe, the case may be closed.

If personalised assistance is required, it can be requested by calling the toll-free number listed on Form H1830-FA or visiting a local office.
