Social Security schedule for September 2025: When do you get your SSI and SSDI payments?

September 2025 marks significant changes to the Social Security payment schedule, particularly for those receiving SSI and SSDI benefits.

With changes in dates due to holidays and special rules, it is critical to stay informed in order to avoid confusion and better plan your finances.

That is why at MARCA, we explain clearly and simply when you will receive your money and what you should keep in mind this month.

SSDI payment schedule for September 2025

If you receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits, the exact date you are paid is determined by your birthday, so the schedule is organized as follows:

If you were born between the 1st and 10th of any month, your payment will arrive on Wednesday, September 10.

If your birthday is from the 11th to the 20th, your deposit will be made on Wednesday, September 17.

If you were born between the 21st and the 31st, you will receive payment on Wednesday, September 24.

However, there are important exceptions. If you began receiving benefits before May 1997, or if you are receiving both SSI and SSDI, your deposit will arrive on Wednesday, September 3, regardless of your birth date.

Some beneficiaries may receive more than $1,200 per month, depending on their work history. These payments are required to cover housing, health, and food expenses, so knowing the exact dates helps you organize your monthly budget.

What about the SSI payment for September 2025?

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments are normally made on the first of each month. However, in September 2025, there will be no deposit because the first falls on a Monday (Labor Day).

As a result, the September payment will be moved forward to Friday, August 29, 2025. This means that SSI recipients will receive two payments in August (one at the beginning and one at the end of the month), but none in September.

This type of adjustment is made when the normal payment date falls on a weekend or holiday. It is critical to keep this in mind so that you do not become confused or overly concerned when you see that nothing is received in September.
