CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Southeast Wyoming will see rain from a Pacific storm system today and Tuesday, which will lower the temperature.
Tuesday’s high temperatures are predicted to be in the 50s and low 60s, which is significantly cooler than the warm weekend temperatures.
Widespread rain is expected to start late this morning and last through the evening, according to the Cheyenne National Weather Service. Most locations along the Interstate 80 corridor will receive between one-third and two-thirds of an inch of precipitation. Additionally, gusty winds of up to 35 mph are anticipated.
Snow will be brought by the storm to regions higher than 8,500 feet. Above 10,000 feet, accumulation could reach 4 to 8 inches, especially in the Snowy Range.
With overnight lows in the upper 20s and low 30s, regions west of the Laramie Range may experience the first freeze of the season early on Wednesday.
By Thursday, a ridge of high pressure is predicted to move in, bringing with it warmer and drier weather. By the end of the week, highs will be back in the mid-seventies.
On Sunday, isolated showers and thunderstorms may reappear in the southern Laramie Valley and the Snowy Range.
