The Natrona County commissioners took no action earlier this month on Memorial Hospital of Converse County’s request for assistance in purchasing Summit Medical Center’s building.

They planned to bring it up again on their next agenda, which would have been last week. However, they did not address it, and they do not appear to be willing to do so on the next one.

While they did not table it during their September 2 meeting, their minutes state that they “took no action pending further discussion.”

According to Oil City News and Kayser, when Natrona County Leda Pojman asked if the board planned to make a decision last Tuesday, Chairman Dave North responded that he did not believe there were enough votes to take action. “Is no action a no?” Commissioner Peter Nicolaysen asked. “Pretty much,” North replied.

According to MHCC Chairman Bob Kayser, they have indicated that they will not put the topic on the agenda again, effectively killing the financing scheme without a vote. And by doing it this way, the five Natrona commissioners avoid having to express their views on the contentious proposal.
