The coroner has ruled the death of an 18-year-old on July 3 as homicide

(Fremont County, WY) – As of this writing, details are limited, but a July 3 death in Fremont County has been ruled homicide, according to the Fremont County Coroner’s case docket, which was released today, July 23.

The report identified the deceased as Brandon Bell, who was 18 years old.

The manner of death was listed as “homicide,” and the cause of death was “multiple gunshot wounds.” The report included no relevant toxicology information.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office call log from July 7 included a “weapon offense” call made at 10:11 p.m. on July 3, which prompted the Coroner to arrive at the scene. All other information in the call log was redacted, including the incident’s location.

County 10 promptly submitted for the Coroner’s public docket report, which was released today, in accordance with the timeframe for which such reports are typically completed.

Riverton Police Department Chief Eric Hurtado confirmed today that the incident did not take place within the RPD’s jurisdiction. Vikki Migoya, an FBI Denver Field Office representative, stated that the BIA/Wind River Police Department was on call that day and would provide any investigation details.

“(The) FBI has not been asked by BIA to assist on any call-outs since July 3,” Migoya told County 10.

As stated in previous write-ups regarding reported criminal acts committed in federal jurisdiction, i.e., the Wind River Reservation, the BIA/WRPD will not provide media comments while active investigations are ongoing.

In terms of arrests and subsequent charges stemming from the homicide, the federal digital registry has not listed any public cases with homicide as the primary charge since July 3.

County 10 will provide additional information as it becomes available.
