After using narcotics and colliding with a light post, a woman was detained; her granddaughter was in the car

GILLETTE, Wyo. — A 47-year-old Gillette woman is in police custody and faces charges for driving under the influence with a child passenger after officers discovered her crashed into a pole and severely intoxicated yesterday, July 1.

According to Gillette Deputy Chief of Police Brent Wasson, GPD officers discovered a 2002 Chevy Suburban that had crashed into a pole in a parking lot on South Douglas Highway.

Police officers observed the woman to be severely impaired and injured. She admitted to officers that she had recently used methamphetamine.

Officers also discovered that the woman’s 9-year-old granddaughter was in the back of the car when the accident occurred.

Despite being endangered, officers did not report any injuries to the granddaughter. The driver, however, was taken to the emergency room.

She has also been arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance with a child passenger, reckless driving, and no insurance.
