The 'gentle Giant' Lover, Age 66, Is Fatally Stabbed By Mom's 41-year-old Son During A Disagreement Over Steaks: The Prosecution

A Massachusetts man allegedly stabbed his mother’s long-time boyfriend after a feud turned violent, according to the alleged victim’s family.

The Middleborough Police Department announced that Andrew Horsman, 41, had been arrested and charged with the murder of Paul Pomerleau, 66.

According to a press release, officers responded to multiple 911 calls from around 8 p.m. on Sunday night reporting a fight in a suburban Middleborough neighbourhood.

They arrived to find Pomerleau with “multiple stab wounds” and immediately transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Horsman’s mother had a long-term relationship with Pomerleau, and family members told local news outlets that the two men were feuding. [Update: WBZ was in the courtroom for Horsman’s arraignment, and prosecutors stated that the argument between the two men was about steaks.]

According to police, Horsman and Pomerleau were arguing just before the alleged stabbing. Police said there were several witnesses to the argument, and family members told local ABC affiliate WCBV that Horsman and his mother’s boyfriend had a long-running feud that came to a head over the weekend.

A neighbour, Jeff Burr, told a local CBS affiliate that he knew Pomerleau for “30 years” and that he was “like a gentle giant.” He was a great person. He would give you the shirt off his back. “He really would.”

Pomerleau’s family said in a statement obtained by WCVB: “My father was a deeply loving father. He had a way of making everyone feel like family and was unwaveringly committed to his children and grandchildren.”

Details about Horsman and Pomerleau’s argument were not made public.

According to police, witnesses at the scene identified Horsman and he was taken into custody without incident. The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office charged him with murder and scheduled his arraignment for Monday at Wareham District Court.
