RIGA, N.Y. — A 46-year-old man tragically died Monday evening after being attacked by his own dog in the Town of Riga, located in Monroe County near the Wyoming County border.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a home on Kendall Road around 8:20 p.m., where they found the man suffering from severe injuries. Despite emergency efforts, he died at the scene.
Authorities identified the dog involved as an American Pit Bull Terrier. In coordination with Lollypop Farm Humane Law Enforcement, the dog was euthanized following the attack.
This incident has deeply shaken the local community, which includes nearby Wyoming County residents who share close ties with the area. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack is ongoing.
