Background

I’ve been training barrel horses over the course of a little over 20 years professionally. My focus has mostly been on making young horses that go on to futurity or rodeo, with a solid confident foundation. I have also taken older projects that either needed to go back to basics or are ready to be seasoned or finished. In my program, the horses get exposed to quite a bit. We ride them outside the arena about as much as we work inside. Putting on the miles, gathering cattle, and some basic rope work is what does a young horse good. Horses in my program are hauled to various sights, and are around dogs and kids. I feel it’s extremely important to make a horse who is a happy and well rounded individual, that lasts a long time in the competition arena. I have had horses go on to win at all levels with various levels of riders in multiple events. By taking a limited number of horses at a time, it’s my insurance that each horse gets the time they personally need to develop.

Heather’s Passion

Horses have forever been my passion and focus. I’m always looking to learn and better myself through other amazing trainers in various parts of the industry.

Other Services I Offer

I offer a few other services in my program, including professional marketing. I have sold into the seven figures worth of prospects to finished horses for myself and the public.
My home base is Rapid City, SD, but I travel to a lot of bigger competitions across the south, southwest, and upper Midwest regions. My favorite destinations are Arizona in the winter, and South Dakota in the summer. The relationships I’ve built over the course of time have created a very big network for myself and my clients. I pour myself into every horse that comes here, they become like my own.
