Two people from Iowa were detained on several narcotics counts in Wisconsin following alleged shoplifting instances

BRIDGEPORT, Wis. – Two Iowans were arrested in Wisconsin on Sunday for allegedly shoplifting and possessing multiple drug-related items.

According to Crawford County Sheriff Dale McCullick, deputies were alerted to an ongoing shoplifting incident involving two people.

Officials arrived at the scene and made contact with two suspects: Molly Schlegel, 38, of Postville, Iowa, and Nathan Bantz, 39, of Elgin, Iowa. Deputies discovered that they were both in possession of drug items.

Officials discovered meth in Schlegel’s purse, as well as hypodermic needles containing residual meth and marijuana in Bantz’s possession. A Prairie Du Chien Police Department K9 assisted and alerted to at least one controlled substance in their vehicle, detecting the following items:

Meth smoking devices

Plastic bags

Digital scale

Bantz was also cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, open intoxicants and without a valid driver’s license.
