CASPER, Wyo. — Wyoming Highway Patrol spokeswoman Aaron Brown told Oil City News that one individual died and another was injured in a two-vehicle incident on State Highway 20/26 Friday.
A semi-trailer hauling hay collided with a pickup truck. According to Brown, the crash caused the hay to catch fire. The incident was reported about 4:47 p.m. on Friday, September 19.
Officials have yet to identify the driver of the pickup truck that perished.
At least one local citizen arrived at the incident site, and one of them “risked life and limb to get this driver out of the [semi],” Brown added.
Brown corroborated witness testimony that a dog ran away from the semi, and he stated he had learned from WHP District 2 investigators that the dog had been reunited with the semi truck driver.
Brown said it is unclear whether any citations or charges will result from the inquiry.
The incident near Ten Mile Road stopped the westbound lanes until around 2 a.m. Saturday, with the Wyoming Highway Patrol leading the investigation, according to the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office.
