Authorities in Michigan arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his fiancee to death because she was “driving a wedge between him and his roommate.”
Seth Thomas Martin called police in Waterford Township, a suburb of Detroit, around 3:41 p.m. Friday to report that he had stabbed his 33-year-old fiancee Mallory Myers to death.
Martin allegedly approached officers outside, blood on his arms. Cops arrested Martin and went inside the house, where they discovered Myers’ body, according to a press release.
The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office charged Martin on Monday with first-degree murder.
During an arraignment hearing on Monday, prosecutors presented additional evidence against Martin. He mentioned that he and Myers were lying in bed together.
According to a courtroom report from local Fox affiliate WJBK, she was on her phone while he was watching her, prosecutors claim. He then allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed her five to ten times, according to prosecutors.
After calling 911, dispatchers asked the suspect to apply pressure to the victim’s wounds, but he refused because there were too many, a detective told the court.
“Seth stated, ‘She’s right next to me, and she’s not doing well.’ Seth told dispatch that he stabbed Mallory in ‘the neck, chest, and arm a couple of times,'” the detective said.
He told the dispatcher he stabbed her in the neck first because he “wanted it to take less time,” prosecutors said. In an interview with detectives, he stated that after stabbing her, he remembered her saying, “baby, baby, baby, I’m dying.” Baby, I am dying.
“Call the cops.” He also allegedly admitted to fantasizing about killing Myers with a knife “early on in their relationship,” according to prosecutors.
According to cops, he claimed she was driving a wedge between him and his roommate.
According to Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald, domestic violence is the leading cause of death among women aged 15 to 44.
“Mallory Myers was not a statistic. Her life was meaningful, and she should be with us still. “We intend to bring Mallory’s killer to justice,” McDonald stated.
Martin is currently being held in the Oakland County Jail without bond. His next court date is scheduled for June 27.
