A dramatic scene on a Brooklyn tube platform went viral on TikTok, with a man violently restraining a woman before being tackled and beaten by vigilante bystanders.
Fredrick Marshall was captured on video allegedly following a 20-year-old woman onto the J train platform at Norwood Avenue in Cypress Hills around 9 a.m. on Sunday.
The 42-year-old allegedly began arguing with the woman before grabbing and attempting to restrain her in what witnesses described as a terrifying and unprovoked encounter.
The woman’s screams quickly caught the attention of several men on the platform.
“Let her go!” one yelled, just before Marshall allegedly shoved her to the ground and held her again as she attempted to flee.
At that point, several bystanders jumped in, dragging the woman away and striking Marshall.
“I’m gonna fuck you up!” one man exclaimed as punches flew.
In the ensuing chaos, the victim was able to flee, as seen in the video crying and calling her mother as she ran down the platform.
“Someone tried to tell you something, chill the fuck out. Another man stood over Marshall and said, “Now you’ve got it!”
According to the New York Post, police arrived shortly thereafter and arrested Marshall on the spot. According to the outlet, he was armed with a knife and a small, club-like weapon. Medics treated the woman for minor injuries.
Marshall, who had no prior arrests, was charged with assault, harassment, and criminal possession of a weapon, but was granted supervised release after prosecutors determined the charges were ineligible for bail.
