OHIO VALLEY — Demonstrators in Wheeling and Steubenville will take to the streets on Saturday, June 14, as part of “No Kings,” a nationwide day of protest organized by Indivisible, a pro-democracy organization.

The coordinated action, which includes up to 2,000 events across the United States, seeks to counter what organizers describe as authoritarian overreach and political corruption.

Locally, Ohio Valley Indivisible and Marchers Ohio Valley Empowered (MOVE) will organize a No Kings March in Wheeling.

Participants will gather on Wheeling Island at 12:30 p.m. and follow a route into downtown Wheeling.

Along the way, speakers from across the community will discuss topics such as voting rights, constitutional protections, and economic inequality.

Organizers anticipate large crowds and encourage all community members to attend.

On the same day, Steubenville will hold its own rally, titled “Day of Visibility,” from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the green space along the City Building on Market Street.

According to local organizer Richard Olivito, the event will center on civil liberties and the importance of advocating for democratic values.

“This is a peaceful, nonpartisan rally centered on protecting the rights and freedoms of all Americans,” Olivito told reporters. “We’re here to talk about how we preserve those freedoms for future generations.”

Organizers in both cities emphasized the movement’s nonviolent approach.

Attendees are urged to de-escalate any conflict and act legally.

All No Kings events strictly prohibit the use of any type of weapon, even if legally permitted.

The national day of protest is intended to highlight concerns about attacks on free speech, disregard for judicial authority, and government actions that disproportionately benefit the wealthy while ordinary Americans struggle with rising costs.

The name “No Kings” is a direct rejection of any leader or administration, past or present, that seeks to elevate itself above the Constitution and the rule of law.

The timing of the demonstrations also coincides with Donald Trump’s birthday, which organizers say highlights the contrast between “lavish political displays” and the realities of everyday Americans.
