The parents of a 1-year-old child in Georgia were arrested after allegedly being caught on video sneaking their toddler beer at a local bar, only to later call it a “dumb decision.”
Craig Banks, 34, and Paetyn Gregory, 30, were arrested last week and charged with one count each of contributing to the delinquency of a dependent or minor.
On Tuesday evening, June 3, 2025, deputies from the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom in the 200 block of Fischer Crossing Drive in Sharpsburg, Georgia, about 30 miles southwest of Atlanta.
The deputies were dispatched after the restaurant manager notified the sheriff about a couple sitting at the bar — later identified as Banks and Gregory — who were serving alcohol to a small child, according to The Newnan Times-Herald.
According to the Times-Herald, the child celebrated his first birthday less than two weeks ago.
The manager reportedly stated that surveillance footage showed the couple giving the child alcohol.
When first responders arrived on the scene, they spoke with the manager, who directed them to Banks and Gregory’s parking space. Deputies then approached the couple, noticing a strong odor of alcohol coming from Banks.
When asked about the manager’s allegations about feeding the child beer, Banks and Gregory initially denied the claim.
“My baby is one, why the f— would I do that?” he reportedly said.
Gregory, who was holding the toddler, allegedly claimed that she and Banks had not been drinking at all, and that the manager had only seen her giving the child a sip of the tea she was drinking, according to Atlanta ABC affiliate WSB.
However, deputies reportedly stated that video footage from inside the restaurant contradicted the couple’s statements.
In the video, Banks appeared to be sitting at the bar, waiting for the bartender to turn his back on him. When the bartender turned around, Banks allegedly gave the toddler sips of beer.
Gregory, who was holding the child at the time, was allegedly seen laughing on several occasions. According to authorities, the couple did this approximately six times.
They then placed the toddler in a high chair and allegedly continued to give him beer while laughing.
After reviewing the footage, both parents were arrested. When confronted about the videos, Gregory allegedly admitted what had occurred.
“I wasn’t thinking and made a dumb decision,” she reportedly told police.
According to the Times-Herald, after his arrest, Bank confronted police, telling them he was going to urinate in the police car.
Following the couple’s arrest, the child was placed in the custody of a grandparent, according to WSB.
