Woman accused of trying to kill someone by stabbing them

GILLETTE, Wyo. — A 24-year-old woman was arrested for attempted murder on Friday morning after allegedly stabbing a man twice in the neck while driving on Highway 387, according to Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds.

According to the report, Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers responded to the initial report just before 7:47 a.m. on May 30.

When they arrived, they discovered a 54-year-old man with two 3-inch-deep stab wounds in his neck and requested a life flight, which took him to Casper.

Natrona County authorities launched an investigation; however, after learning that the incident occurred in Campbell County, the investigation was turned over to the local sheriff’s office, according to Reynolds.

Investigators from the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office responded to Casper and discovered that the woman was traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada, with the man and two others to “have fun,” according to Reynolds. The group stopped in Gillette for breakfast and then smoked methamphetamine and fentanyl.

A witness told investigators that none of the occupants knew the 24-year-old woman well and that she had been acting strangely since the beginning of the trip; however, the woman appeared fine until she smoked meth, according to Reynolds.

According to the report, the 24-year-old began accusing the other vehicle occupants of not being who they claimed to be.

She allegedly took a folding knife, opened it, and stabbed the 54-year-old twice in the neck before another occupant disarmed her and pushed her away.

Reynolds stated that the group called for emergency assistance and switched seats. One of the occupants continued driving until WHP troopers arrived, and the man was taken to Casper.

According to CCSO arrest records, the woman was eventually arrested for attempted second-degree murder and felony aggravated assault.
