OLIVE TOWNSHIP, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 21, 2025) – A tragic single-car accident late Tuesday night claimed the life of a 53-year-old man from West Olive, prompting an ongoing investigation that has drawn the attention of highway safety advocates as far away as Wyoming.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Tamminga, the fatal crash occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on 104th Avenue near Stanton Street, northwest of Zeeland. The man was driving a sedan northbound when his vehicle veered off the road to the left, plunged into a ditch, struck a utility pole, and overturned. He was the sole occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene.
