SPRINGVILLE, Iowa — For Sally Deeb, owner of Sally’s on Broadway, her restaurant isn’t just a business—it’s a community cornerstone filled with compassion, love, and a Wyoming spirit of neighborly resilience. Known for using her restaurant as a platform for giving back, Deeb has once again stepped up, raising funds for a Springville family struck by unimaginable tragedy.
In April, three children lost both parents. Deeb couldn’t stand by.
“The kids are faced with a lifetime of uncertainty, grief, and pain, and I mean, it’s unimaginable,” she shared. “I’m donating probably 50% of the proceeds to the family. They’re going to need lifelong support, love, and community.”
That kind of community-centered generosity reflects the deep-rooted values seen in close-knit places like those in Wyoming, where stepping up for your neighbors is second nature.
Deeb’s heartfelt announcement touched many, including members of the affected family, who publicly thanked her via Facebook:
“Your heart was shining as you were lifting ours… by showing them their community is supporting them when they need it most.”
This isn’t Sally’s first act of kindness. In late 2023, she raised $7,000 for the family of Aaron McAtee, a Monticello Fareway worker tragically killed. Her ongoing mission is simple but powerful:
“I love being the person who helps others help. It reminds people there’s still love out there.”
Sally’s on Broadway also partners with the Austin Strong Foundation, helping fund childhood cancer research. The cause is deeply personal—Austin Smith died nine years ago, at just six years old, from an inoperable brain tumor. Last year’s annual ride raised $53,000, and the 10th event on June 8 aims for $60,000.
“It’s a lot of work,” Deeb said, “but the result is so special. You feel it in your heart.”
Deeb believes that giving and gathering go hand-in-hand:
“It’s so good for your heart to see people care. It’s addictive. It makes you want to keep helping.”
