Laramie, WY– The Miss Rodeo Wyoming Association (MRWA) announced today that Madelaine McElwee will take over the duties of Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2022 after the resignation of Sierra Butler. McElwee was 1st-Runner Up at the Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2022 Pageant and will immediately take over the duties with her first appearance being at the University of Wyoming Art Gala on April 9th, 2022 in Laramie, WY.

McElwee was born and raised in Laramie, WY. Growing up, McElwee had a natural love for horses. When she was five years old, she began taking riding lessons, and her passion for riding and the western way of life flourished. McElwee competed in 4-H horse shows, the Laramie Jubilee Days Kids Horse Show, and eventually moved on to compete in American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) reining shows. She competed at the AQHA Youth Worlds Horse Show in 2018. When she was 16, she took up an interest in aviation and began taking flying lessons.

In May of 2020, McElwee earned her private pilot’s license, followed by her instrument rating in December of that same year, her tailwheel endorsement in January of 2021, and her commercial pilot’s license the following May.

In 2019, McElwee was crowned Miss Laramie Jubilee 2020. She had an amazing time as Lady-In-Waiting, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic her title extended to 2021.

A celebration introducing McElwee as Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2022 will be held in Laramie, WY with more details being released soon. She will travel the country representing the state of Wyoming and the professional sport of rodeo, as well as preside over the Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2023 pageant, August 15- 18, 2022 during the Wyoming State Fair. McElwee will then compete for the title of Miss Rodeo America 2023 in Las Vegas November 27-December 4, 2022 during the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.
